Problem<\/h4>\n

You successfully installed an IBM SPSS Statistics product on a Mac computer. When you start the License Authorization Wizard (LAW) to enter the authorization code for licensing. You receive the following message: “Warning! You do not have the correct administrator privileges to license this product. Log in as administrator and try again, or contact your network administrator to correct this issue. ” Once this message is displayed the only option available is “OK” and you cannot enter your authorization code.<\/p>\n

Resolving The Problem<\/font><\/h4>\n

If you encounter this message, perform the following procedure:<\/p>\n

If open, close the IBM SPSS Statistics product.<\/p>\n

Statistics Release 28 and after and Statistics Subscription<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. If open, close the License Authorization Wizard.\n
  2. Open Finder.\n
  3. Select the ‘Go’ menu.\n
  4. Select the ‘Utilities’ menu.\n
  5. Open the Terminal program (\/Applications\/Utilities\/Terminal.app)\n
  6. Type (copy and paste) the following command to change directory to the SPSS Statistics installation folder: cd \/Applications\/<\/code>\n
  7. Press the Enter or Return key on the keyboard.\n
  8. Type (copy and paste) the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin \"IBM SPSS Statistics\"<\/code>\n
  9. Press the Enter or Return key on the keyboard.\n
  10. Close Terminal.\n
  11. Launch the License Authorization Wizard.\n
  12. License your IBM SPSS Statistics product.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Statistics Release 27<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

        5. Open the Terminal program (\/Applications\/Utilities\/Terminal.app)\n
        6. Type (copy and paste) the following command to change directory to the SPSS Statistics installation folder: cd \/Applications\/IBM\/SPSS\/Statistics\/<\/code>\n
        7. Type (copy and paste) the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin 25<\/code<\/code>\n
        8. Press the Enter or Return key on the keyboard.\n
        9. Close Terminal.\n
        10. Launch the License Authorization Wizard.\n
        11. License your IBM SPSS Statistics product.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          To confirm the changes have been made<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

          (1) In the Terminal window change directory to the following path (example for release 26)<\/p>\n

          cd \/Applications\/IBM\/SPSS\/Statistics\/26\/SPSSStatistics.app\/Contents<\/code><\/p>\n

          Then, type the following:<\/p>\n

          ls \u2013l<\/code><\/p>\n


          <\/code><\/p>\n

          (2) Press the Enter or Return key on the keyboard.<\/p>\n

          If you see some or all of subfolders shows a group ownership other than ‘admin’ (as displayed in Picture1), the procedure did not succeed.<\/p>\n

          Direct your Mac IT support to contact IBM SPSS Support for further assistance.<\/p>\n
