Problem

I wish to move/migrate the Sentinel RMS License Manager to a new host machine (server). What is the process?

Resolving The Problem

NOTE: This article describes Concurrent User instruction. If you want to transfer your IBM SPSS product/software license (Authorized User), visit this link.

If you wish to install and license an IBM SPSS (Sentinel RMS) Concurrent License on a new host/ server, you need to follow two steps:

Installation

1. Install the IBM SPSS (Sentinel RMS) Concurrent License Manager on on the new host machine/server.

The most current version of the Sentinel RMS License Manager is available on the IBM Passport Advantage website. Please note that you have to be granted access to the site by your admin in order to download the software.

Please note that Modeler 18.1 (and higher) and Statistics 25.0 (and higher) REQUIRE:

IBM SPSS Concurrent License Manager and Tools 9.1 or 9.7. Both installations are containing Sentinel RMS License Manager 9.1.X). Versions 9.1 and 9.7 of IBM SPSS Concurrent License Manager are supported also by the older version of SPSS software.

IBM SPSS Concurrent License Manager and Tools 9.6 is containing Sentinel RMS License Manager 8.6.X and may not work properly.

Activation

1. Reset your code(s)

A valid Concurrent User product authorization code can be usually licensed only on one host machine/server. Therefore, if you want to transfer license from old host machine to new, you can open a Support Case to submit an automated request to reset your code.  More details in this article.  All you will need is the authorization code (and optionally the lock code) of your old machine.

Note: Copying/pasting the installed software folders/license files from one host machine/server to another will not result in a working version of the product.

2. Activate the software
